Ingredients

  • 4 salmon steaks center-cut, about 6 oz each and 1-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill or 1 tablespoon fresh, chopped
  • 1 lemon cut into wedges for serving

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Paper Towels
  • Pastry Brush
  • Instant-Read Thermometer

Method

  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F for 3-5 minutes.
  • Pat the salmon steaks completely dry with paper towels. This ensures a nice golden exterior.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried dill.
  • Brush both sides of each salmon steak with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with the seasoning mixture.
  • Place the salmon steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between each piece for proper air circulation.
  • Cook for 7-9 minutes, depending on thickness. The salmon is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 125°F for medium-rare or 130°F for medium, and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Carefully remove the salmon steaks from the air fryer and let rest for 2 minutes before serving.
  • Serve immediately with lemon wedges for squeezing over the top.

Notes

For extra flavor, try one of these variations: 1) Cajun-style: swap regular seasoning for Cajun spice blend; 2) Asian-inspired: brush with a mixture of honey, soy sauce, and sesame oil during the last 2 minutes; 3) Herb-crusted: top with a mixture of panko, fresh herbs, and olive oil before cooking; 4) Lemon pepper: use lemon pepper seasoning instead of the spice blend. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 275°F for just 3-4 minutes.
